Description

The second cake designed for local magazine Female Brides.

The theme for this shoot was:
All White - elegant, sophisticated cakes that are all white, but featuring different shades of white/cream/ivory. Each cake needs to have each own pattern/styling, and can be matched with white flowers or other white accessories.

This cake was actually designed and built by my manageress (with some tutoring and assistance from me of course). Awhile back I had mentioned to her that anyone could learn how to decorate a cake if they were taught the proper skills and had an interest in it.

"Even me?" She asked.
"If you want... sure, but you'll have to cut your fingernails first. You're gonna leave nail marks everywhere with those..." I said.
"They're already short! My Manicurist is on vacation..."

A week later we have this fine piece of work. Considering this is her first time and she is far from anyone's imagination of what a pastry chef is like (think makeup, manicured nails, designer clothes and high heels), I think you will all agree that she did a fantastic job!

Oh well, she did have a good teacher... *wink*

There are a lot of elements in this cake! Its strikingly beautiful, the attention to every single tiny detail, it looks picture perfect. It shows your obvious skill and dedication to your craft. Every butterfly looks amazing, the wings, the soft pink hue on them - just enough color to keep the cake from being plain. The rhinestones(?) add a different level of sophistication and luxury to the cake, I'd also like to point out the traditional methodology of the cake with its radical originality. The first two layers of rounded cake are very traditional for cakes; as you move up to the second two tiers they're elevated purposefully on each side giving it a more modern edge. The filigree pattern along the cake gives it a wonderful elegant touch.

Overall VERY beautiful. Be proud!
